I didn't realize I hadn't answered your question about a hidden under bed gas tank access until Ken put in that blue print that directs one to a previous thread. That guy, with his computer skills, makes a young fellow in his seventies feel old. The pics show it open and closed. The hinges are from an 80's/90's T-bird or Cougar gas flap as is the electrical release stuff. A very short filler tube is soldered in the same place as the factory filler and if you look closely there is a screen door spring attached to the rear hinge arm to flip the board up when the button in the glove box is pushed. If interested the tailgate latches are seat belt latches with the female end tacked to the bed side and the male end on the gate. The cable that replaces the chain requires a half inch to be trimmed from the tailgate end channel to give the cable a pocket to fit into when the gate is closed. It's nearly invisible when closed.
Wow I keep telling you alls : if Evan says a thing different than I do , follow his lead , you'll be glad you did . If I ever win the Lotto , guess who's doing a frame off rebuild (NOT restore!) on my '49 shop truck . Ken's a big buy , he'll get over it besides , he likes those foofy Girly Man Chevys
Speaking of being sorry~ That's how it gets when school starts up... What life? But that's OK. I do love my career! (and walk to work...) Evan, that is so slick! It looks like you had to rework the spacing on the bed boards, no? Thanks for posting the pictures! Another beautiful truck!
