    Has anyone took a under bed mount from a newer model truck and used it with an AD? I need a good system to carry a spare tire. I had a Japanese truck that the jack handle let the tire down. Someone has it all figured out. I find my best work comes from someone else's experence.:eek:

    Yep ;

    You can use the standard under bed mount from any old GM pickup or better yet , get the nifty chain hoist typ one from a crackerjack Japanese pickup , don't forget the crank and measure *very* carefully before drilling bolt holes or welding it into place...

    Really like the ones used in the Chevy Luv which was an Iszuzu and now extinct. The Ford Ranger, which is a Mazda, has one of the better "wheel grabber" brackets on the end of the chain that reels up and down. A real advantage if you have nice clothes on and the road is nasty. In a pinch you can also use a long 3/8's extension to work the Ranger unit but the jack handle is far better. We just get the hoisting mechanism and then bolt two pieces of small channel (angle or tube would work) to the lower frame flange so the widest part of the tire sidewall come up against the channel when the tire is hoisted up. Hoist the tire up upside down if it is a whitewall.
