Spark Plug Removal

I have a 72 Chevy C/20 pickup with a 402 engine. My 5/8 plug socket will not fit over the spark plugs. It seems like there is not enough room between the plug and the head casting for the socket to fit. Is there a special plug socket for this engine that will work for getting the plugs out and back in again.

You might try using a 3/8 drive 12-point socket. Sometimes are thinner wall.
