In my 49 Chevy pickup I changed rear gears from 4.11 to 3.55. I understand there is a adapter that I can install in the speedometer cable to indicate the correct speed. Where can I buy one and how is it installed?

Google "speedometer ratio adapter" and you'll find a bunch of them. Most screw into your tranny and then the old cable screws into the adapter. You'll need to specify the old and new rear-end ratios. Also, if you have made a drastic change in rear wheel diameter be sure to take that into consideration.
