Hi Guys: I changed out my transmission (1952 chevy 3100 3 speed) and discovered the 'new' transmission (I believe it is a 1953 or later) speedometer drive gear appears to have a stub of speedo cable broken off in the base of the drive. The 'new' speedo drive has an 18 tooth fiber gear and my old one is a metal 14 tooth gear, so they don't exchange. Any ideas on where to find an 18t fiber gear drive? I've been trying the ebay route, but no luck so far. Thanks. Richard

ps: I can't seem to get the photo of my truck to show up in my posts - any suggestions? Thanks.

    Speedo Drive Gear

If you carefully jamb a Dental Pick into it , you should be able to withdraw the stub .

Failing that , try NOVAC .

If you google " standard transmission speedometer drive and driven gears" there will be a number of hits. I have bought gears from both TCI and the Transmission center although TCI may just have auto trans gears. I'd bet the drive gear inside the trans is steel but since the driven gear is stripped better check it out.
