Guess for the time being I'm going to just lower the stock frame until an S-10 comes available at a decent price. There is a local company that has been the the spring business over 50 years, and the charge 10.00 per pack to de-arch. Now that being said how much can I safely do on the front and rear keeping the rest of the stock parts? Also should I remove any of the leaves? I read I can flip the rear spring hangers to help drop it, would you do that and use lowering lowering blocks to get the height. What has been the typical drop on a stock frame? Not looking to remove road reflectors, just a nice low stance.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I had read that and thank you, but your post was the only one with not throwing more money then I have to work with. Thats why I checked into de-arching the springs as you did. New stuff is great but that's not an option. Was hoping for an idea of what to expect by de-arching. Looks like I'll put in on a back burner till I can get an S10 frame cheap, and sell my frame and the 292; or just sell it all. thanks again

Cheap CAN be dangerous and WILL ride like crap. You can start by pulling a few leafs from each pack. Leave the fat, short overload and then pull every other one. I wouldn't go over 2 springs at first, assemble and test drive. If the ride is liveable You are good to go. It will be springier and you will bottom out more often.

Thanks Ol Chebby, your right, cheap can be dangerous. Thats not how I meant that to sound, but like many my pockets aren't real deep.
Beginning to think I may just pull the plug on this before I get in over my head. Put the floors in it, set the cab back on the frame and a for sale sign in the window. Look at it and think it over this weekend; go from there.

Don't bail on it, just plan out, beg borrow and swap for what you need.....thats how they did it in the other depression. An S10 can be found cheaply. I know someone who bought one for $300, the guy drove it to him. He sold the bed for $300, the engine for $200 and scrapped the leftovers for more $.
