Can anyone help me identify where the springs attach under the seat of a 66 Chevy? I have clips that I can attact them to but I don't understand their purpose. What do they hold down? Any help would be appreciated!

Clarification! These are not seat springs> The springs I am referring to are actually fastened to the floor board under the seat. There is one long spring and one short spring. What are they for? Possibly a Jack?

In my 64 PU the jack was mounted under the seat and a long spring was used to capture it in the stowed position. I don't use it anymore, partly because I dont have a spare anyway! I put a gas tank where the spare was and now carry a can of 'spare tie' inflater if I need emergency service!
