squealing belt

One of the two belts on our '74 Suburban is squealing. I dont know which one it is or how to fix it.it starts squealin as soon as I put it in gear and it dosent stop untill its going 30-35. I tried tightning and loosening the alternator belt but it didnt help a thing.Thanks for any and all help. :(

get your engine warm ....after that take an ordinary candle and rub it on the bottom side of one of your belt ..... id do one at a time to trouble shoot .... this should stop the squealing once you find the noisey belt ....any questions let me know ...hope this helps

No problem karl ...im glad to help .... i had a 86 mazda before i bought my 71 chevy .... it always had squealy belts until i learned that little trick.... happy heartbeatin'

That darned belt is at it again. I went to start it and it sounded great untill I turned up the heater then it started squealin and then when I turned off the fan it stopped.please dont tell me its the heater core.hope one of you guys know whats going on because I dont.thanks for any help. Karl

I would try changing the belt . Does the truck have AC? It sounds like maybe the compressor is trying to lock up.
