I am currently removing a 4.1 6 cylinder and installing a 78 305 V8 in my 1983 C-10 2wd. The 83 4.1 soleniod arrangement is (1) main battery cable post and (1) smaller post (S) for the starter wire. My 78 305 Soleniod arrangement is (1) large post and (2) smaller posts, can I just wire the 305 Solenoid the same as the 4.1 (leaving tghe 2nd smaller post unused?

There should be only two wires on the starter used same as your 4.1

As far as the two small terminals go I think one goes to the coil and the other is from the ignition. Your coil is surley powered from some other location so I wouldn't worry about it. Just hook up the other wire from the ignition and let it rip.

he's right ran into the same problem with my '85 chevy had a 6 banger in it pulled it n put a 350 bored 60 over in. 6 banger had 1 from battery and three goin to the silenoid [1 pos. for battery, 2 on each side of it.] hooked the battery wire and wire to the post closest to the starter itself and she fired right up.
