Starting issue when hot

My '51 is difficult is hard to start if it sets a few minutes after I have driven it awhile. It has all indications of being flooded out. It has a new float valve and the floats are set at the correct height. Any thoughts?

Hot Starting

Often , this is caused by the heat soak forcing fuel past the float valve so it floods .

The simple test is to hold the throttle to the floor and crank it , if this makes it start faster after a hot drive , there's your problem , install a carby kit or maybe just a " Grose jet " float valve , they have two little balls instead of the usual needle typ valve and seat , I've used them to very good effect on many oldies , some folks hate them but I feel those folks also do not run a micronic paper element fuel filter just in front of their carbys either....

YMMV , my advice is worthless etc. ,etc.

Appreciate the input, this is exactly what occurs. I initially thought that the floats were dragging on the body of the carb and I eliminated any possiblity of that. I have used the Grose valves before but am not sure where to get them for this carb, your thoughts?

...needs about 1/2 choke when starting while it's hot.

Choke For Hot Start

This usually indicates a vacuum leak , check the carby's base insulator and the intake manifold to head joints .
