I just put a 600 edelbrock carb on my 78 cheyenne. In the morning it starts with 1 push of the throttle. If i drive it to work or anywhere and let it sit for 20mins. to and hour it takes forever to start. It only supposed to have 6.5 psi of fuel pressure.Ive heard thats just the way old trucks are but i dont believe it. any suggestions?

    Are you flooding it?
You should only need to pump it if it has been sitting for more than a couple of hours. I've seen the 600 cfm carb by edelbrock and I know it's a direct replacement for the stock; but do you need to replace the intake? I'm not sure about that though.

It also sounds like your engine is out of time, check your timing make sure it is right.
