Can a 54 AD steering column/box assembly be installed in a 49 AD without modification? I assume the diameter of the column is the same and the splines on the output shaft. I know the steering wheels are different but wanted to know if I can make a complete swap of the column and box with out any problems.

    Thanks

Yes. As you stated the wheel is different but the pitman shaft and steering wheel splines are the same. The 54 offered an automatic column and turn signals also.

    Now I need a column

Thanks Evan, Now all I need to do is find someone that is replacing theirs with a tilt column or something and I'm in business. Providing the cost is reasonable of course.
    Thanks again
