When I put powersteering on my '64 C-10, I also at that time want to put in a tilt steering column. Do I need to go with Ididit or Flaming River, or is there a column from a donor vehicle that will work. Thanks Mike
There are later model GM truck columns that fit nicely and allow you to retain the ignition on the dash cluster where God intended it to be.. If you have a floor shift, look for a 70's van steering column. ( I ran one of those for a few years before swapping out to a Billet Specialties column.) If you have a column shift almost any 70's truck column for automatics will fit nicely. The thing about the aftermarket columns like Flaming River, Billet Specialties, and others, is that something has to be done with the column drop as the new column diameter is narrower than the factory's. I used a Flaming River drop that is intended for putting one of these columns in later model production cars. It works perfect, but requires that the drop be mounted from the top, not from the bottom, and does require some slight sheet metal cutting behind where the mount is located. If you e-mail me, I'll send you a few pictures of how I did it. DVal
If you plan on a 700R4 swap you can use an 80's van steering colum. The are sold on Ebay all the time.

A van column will work fine and it can be an early model also... The later 80's column has the shift on the left side and you will need one that is on the right.. i am talking in the engine compartment not in the cab...
