Hey guys, Anyone know who sells a set of rear shackles for a 1/2 ton that are equivelant to the originals. Mine are shot and I bought a set for the front from a vendor and the pins and bar hole tapers are so bad when the cross bolt is tightened it smashed the seals to bits before the bolt tightens up to hold the bars in place. Another $50 bucks wasted. I'm a little X%8&%& mad
Spring Shakles & Bushings Etc. Flagg brand still makes everythjg for the AD trucks , I used them and they were perfect fittment . most spring shops can order them for you , I got them from..... Jeeze , that was like 10 years ago , maybe TheTruck Shop in Orange , Ca. ? . Didja try Chevy Duty first ? they've always done well by me .
I had the same problem with one of the front shackle sets I bought from our host. I called them up on it and they sent me a new kit that was perfect. No questions asked, just fast service to correct a bad part. They are good. Any problems and they correct them immediately. All other shackle kits, including the rears were perfect. Andy
Sheckles for Shackles Thanks guys, I'll take the recommendations and go forward. I will call the vendor and see if they will make good on their product or if I'm totally stuck. I still have one shackle that's not installed. Another lesson learned. Fit check everything before starting to install anything! I have learned this lesson several times so far and eventually it will sink in I hope.
Mangling New Parts Don't feel too bad there ~ the ' mechanics ' I work with destroy new parts on a regular basis then come screaming to me for getting ' shyte ' or ' the wrong part AGAIN DAMMIT ! ' without ever bothering to inspect said part for correctness nor suitability before pounding it to junk.... Heck I do this a couple times a year and I am the most careful and deliberate Mechanic I know Chevy Duty (the site host) really does take customer service seriously so always call politely and explain your concerns and give them the chance to make good , so far they always do . DON'T buy the taiwanese crap rubber there tho' , go to Steele Rubber .
UNSHACKLED at Last Thanks Nate, nice to know I'm not the only one thats a slow learner I'm only a little mad now as I called the vendor and they are shipping me new shackles so I'm only out the shipping costs for returning the bad ones. I'll order the rear ones I need from CP based on your and Andy's recommendation even though I had a bad expierence before with my kingpin/thrust bearing issue I will give them another chance and see what happens.
