Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. Built a Factory Five Cobra a few years ago but I plan to sell it and build a 51 GMC to replace it! (have not sold the Cobra yet, keep procrastinating for some reason ) My project currently has NO drivetrain or box and the rear suspension is not stock. In short, it is a rust free Montana cab and front on a decent frame and thats about it. I plan to put a mustang II front suspension up front and a Thunderbird IRS in the rear. I understand the MII front will drop the front 4" from stock but that is meaningless in my case since I have no idea what stock should be (did I mention it also has 4 flat tires?). My question is this: Where in relation to the stock frame should I expect the front spindle to be when all is finished? This will help me to determine if I want a 2" drop and also help me plan the rear IRS installation. Thanks! Jerry
M2 setups with springs usually put the spindle at the center of the frame. AIrbags put it as low as you want. I run M2 superlow with 2" dropped spindles from Fatman, T bird IRS.
Thanks Ol' Chebby. Your truck looks great. Is your truck on airbags? Also, did you have to figure out the tbird IRS yourself of is there information out there on the modification?
Since you have done a Factory Five project go to their site and check out the mounting of the optional T-Bird/Cougar/Lincoln IRS for the Cobra. I like the way they deleted much of the bulky factory mounts and replaced with clean looking tubular mounting. Our next one will be mounted in this manor.
