I was talk ing to another car guy an dhe said to subframe the front end of my truck with a 73 and up Camaro or Nova front, instead of a Mustang II. He said that the rack and pinion is to weak to support the truck/engine weight. Is that true?
This has been covered in excruciating detail if you'll scroll through a few pages , I think the AMC Pacer front clip is the very best way to go , look into it . The inliners list is far more hot rod oriented so you'll get lots of support there on this project , remember to toss all the stock parts in a pile and then offer them for sale here when you're finshed as we need stock parts , even the old rusty bent ones you think are trash . Good luck with it . -Nate
There are myriad MII's to choose from, some good others a POS. I personally like Fatman which is many times stronger than the straight axle but of course pricey. You will get a 3"+ front end drop so it will have a butt up stance without rear end drop. We have done dozens and have two in the shop now so open to specific questions.
Personally I'm a fan of dropped front axle on the stock frame. Also, please post pictures of your truck.
