i recently decided to suicide my doors on my 55 truck 2nd series. i purchased an aftermarket set from suicide doors .com. the problem is i think these hinges were made for flat doors cause the door wants to rub against the back of the cab when there opened only about 45 -50 degrees due to the curve on the 55-59 doors. i tried moving the hinges around in all types of positions and i am almost ready to throw in the towel. i have heard of guys using the original hinges and just move them to the back. has anyone done this before or have any advice. pictures. comments or just wanna call me stupid, i would greatly appreciate your help thanks
I am very interested in this. I was thinking about doing the same thing to my 1959 modified truck. I do not remember ever seeing one of these trucks with suicide doors, now I wonder if this is the reason. I had not considered the curve in the door and what issues that might cause. I hope we get some suggestions/answers here.
I am no expert here by any means. The first thought that I had is that if you take the drivers side hinges and use them for the passenger side back and the passenger side for the drivers side back they should work...Based on the curviture of the doors etc.
