Suspension drop pictures

    I am hung up on deciding how much to drop my suspension. I like low but for now can't afford to go crazy low creating too many challenges for myself.
    I will start with drop spindles but from there am not sure how far I dare go. I will be sticking with some combination of the drop spindles and springs.

    Anyone willing to share some pictures and details on their setups?

    I used the drop spindles and coils to get a 3" drop in front and a 4" drop in back and I ordered all the parts from out host here.If you go to my pictures on this forum you can check it out Kilroy was here!!!

    Appreciate the replies...
    I did realize earlyclassics had some customer pictures up there today that helped.I like their 4" front and wonder what that would look like with 4-5" rear.
    This web site has lots of features but I guess I need to spend some time navigating. I looked for your pics hotrodkilroy but can't seem to locate them.

    Seems what I have gathered is with 2.5" drop spindles you should only go 1-2" more with the drop springs before alignment gets nasty? Then out back 4-5" is max before c-notching or shock relocators? I just don;t want to get some crazy looking stance.

    i dropped mine 4-6 no c notching, still have 3" axle to rubber bumper on frame clearence which is plenty,

    early classic kit comes with front and rear shocks, drop spindles, drop springs front and rear, rear shock relocators ( simply grind off old upper shock mounts and bolt in the supplied new ones) super pan hard bar, all mounting hardware, rear axle u bolts, front 12" rotors, front calipers, master cylinder, new pre bent brake lines, proportioning valve, and ummm i think some other stuff to, and it was $1,400 for everthing. Thats really a killer deal. Your doing a proffesional drop and front brake disc conversion too. Very easy and takes about two easy days to complete. Your going to want to have it alligened with any drop you do. I would suggest since your in the area and will have it all apart, do new ball joints and tie rods too, not much more cash and your already there, these trucks have an amazingly better handling and steering when you replace them.

    Also, the early classic kit keeps your trucks ride and handling feeling like it should, not sloppy and bouncy like a cheap or back yard (hack the springs) job.

    you mentioned worring about a bad stance, the 4-6 drop levels the truck front to rear, any thing less like 4 or 5 drop in the rear you will still notice a rake in the truck (were the rear looks higher then the front) but no worries, the shock relocation is super simple, just bolt it in, and no c notch unless you go more then 6 to 7 inches drop in the rear, thats more for air bagging it and putting the truck on the ground.

    heres a pic after i did my drop, again, no cutting, no welding, all bolt in. my rear looks a little higher because there was no floor in the bed making it lighter and sit a bit higher untill i got the wood in, then the rear sat level with the front.

    No kidding the 4 to 6 looks sweet!
    Although that might be a bit much for pulling a horse trailer. That and my typical SOCAL driveway is not lowrider friendly.

    it actually would be good for pulling a horse trailer, i read a article on the early classics web site were a guy did the same drop, loaded his truck full of gravel and it held the weight and handled just fine. I was impressed, i didnt think it would do it either, but.... i suppose you would have to use a adjustable height hitch stinger so your trailer wasnt dipping in the front. the 4-6 drop isnt as low as you may think, i still have about a foot clearance from the pavement to the body.

    Yup saw that. helps under braking too! Worst thing in the world is to have the rear end come up under load and jack knife the whole mess.

    would look a little guffy having the height of your hitch mount up in the middle of your tailgate thou. :rolleyes: hey i know, lower the horse trailer, put matching paint and wheels and.... ya right, like were all made of money haha.

    It lowers when I put my to pamper mares in it.

    AFA as made of money. Nope all this is gonna be off a shoe string budget.
    So far so good.
    Put new lights and lenses. Looking better every day.
