Has anyone tried to track down the chevy red called Target red or sportsman red they used in 53?

Considering using it on my truck but looking around I don't see it available. I can get the old codes, but doesn't seem to translate into a known color today.

Anyone done this research and know if this color is still available?

Try going to the PPG (Ditzler) site and log onto their color library. Your local paint supply store can call the Color Library direct and get a crossover number.

    Strange red...

James, I usually go to paintref.com to find paint codes from most modern paint mfg. I could only find "commercial red" for model year 1953 trucks. Interestingly, the mix code for "commercial red" is the same as "swift red" from prior years.
However, "target red" is listed as a car color in 1953. The codes are there for Ditzler PPG, Dupont, and others.

    Thanks guys.

I got the ppg code, so I guess that's all I need to supply to Sherman Williams. Again thanks.. I did look at paintref.com and had the codes, but when I went on to the paint suppliers site the codes didn't translate. Anyway hopefully when I go into their store they will figure it out.
