I always thought that the 73-87 1/2 ton IFS swap was a direct bolt on for the TF series but turns out I was wrong. Did some research and came across this article detailing the steps to do the install the IFS on a TF. If you've considered this swap, this spells it out for you.

This guy went to a lot of unnecessay work. The 71-88 (if you want disc brakes) VAN ifs fits the TF. It is 4" wider than the pickup and eliminates all the pie cutting and dog legging. The pickup unit under the AD and the van under the TF will both have the tire sticking out from under the fender an inch and a half. To tuck the wheels back in you need to go to 16" or taller wheels because 15" hits the ends of the tie rods and sometimes the caliper. Not my favorite but good if the pickup is still going to be used as a truck.
