Hey gang, Well, after a series of heart wrenching phone calls telling me my shipment was "missing in action" it finally arrived today. Said shipment was a 228 LONG motor, 4 on the floor tranny, heater and new steering column from Tom aka Spika. Here is a couple of pictures. I couldn't help but drop it in even though it does need some paint and a bit of TLC. I will keep you posted and much thanks to Tom and his crew for getting this packaged and on it's way.

Jeesis christ, looks like someone used that firewall for target practice!!
You may want to yank that motor and fill some of those holes to keep the exaust fumes and nasty weather out before you button it up.
 
That is definitely on my to do list. Obviously there is a lot on that list but I am slowly but surely plugging away. Should have the cowls finished next week and then the firewall. Mostly just sprayed the paint to motivate me. I have been spending a lot of my time on the fenders and doors so I can free up the space in the garage before the white stuff starts falling.

You're well on your way there , keep up the good works and soon you'll be driving it to The Cathedral Of The Pines or stopping traffic @ The Old Man In The Mountain..... :p .

Don't forget to add a VIN to the chassis now , before the front sheet metal is in place .

I'm sure you know that L O N G 228 mill needs to be GMC RED , bragging rights ya know :rolleyes: .

I guess you didn't hear the Old Man on the Mountain fell off the mountain. :( They have tried some sort of recreation but I haven't seen it yet. I will however be cruising the wonderful Notch road as soon as I can!!

I believe it is a happy 228 in it's new home. "Spike" the truck is happy to have a heart again too!

I hadn't heard it fell off , I know it was forced to fall off by some retard who climbed up and jambed a U.S. Flag into it , the Park Service was having fits because they said it was the death knell , I'd assumed they'd fixed it before it fell off totally , too bad they didn't :( .

I remember wheezing & rattling down Notch Road in a wide variety of rusty farm junkers way back in the 1960's....... Suburbans with ALL the seats , K10 pickups , a nasty '64 Corvair Coupe , Saabs even , always with our grimy faces plastered to the windows as we rolled past the natural wonder .

I've kind of been outta contact the past few weeks...work has been very hectic, which is good...I'm certainly not complaining, but I've not had a spare minute to even check on my buds here on the forum...hope all are still well.
We turned over 8000 miles on the 52 since we launched it the last of June...been as far south as Vegas, east as Madison Wisconsin, and north as far as Calgary Alberta. Nothing west of Missoula yet, that I can remember tho. Got all the bugs worked out by now, and she purrs like a kitten. 'Bout at the end of hotrod season here in Montana, though, and I'm about to take her inside and get her ready to sit for a few months. Hope to clean up some finer details haven't gotten to yet over the winter.
Sure glad the transport company found that shipment...can't see how they could have up and lost it for a week, but at least it eventually got there. I'm anxious to hear when you get the softplugs replaced and stick a battery to it...I bet it pops off without much encouragement. Keep us posted!!!

Hey Tom, The plan was to fire her up this weekend but yesterday we got 5 inches of snow and tonight they are predicting.up to a foot. I had hoped to have the garage cleared out enough to get the truck in before the snow. I lost. The snow is here and the garage is still jammed. Going out to work on it now. Can't have the ol' girl sitting out in the cold. I will keep you posted.

I havent stole anything in a long time, and it sure wasnt a "name". I didnt know there was a copywright law on having a name.
I have been a member on numerous websites, including ebay, and buying and selling parts, and offering my experience to members questions.
I dont know where this "Deadonetrucking" guy comes from saying about his sockpuppet, that should be kept to himself.
As far as im concerned comments against another member should be put to P.M.

Anyway...

Nice to see another 228 getting put back to life. I love that engine in my truck. It just works fantastic and runs perfect. Plenty of power to boot. And plus you can make those Chevy Guys jealous with that long motor that has Oil Pressure:)
 
Tell me about it! Just wish mine did more than run in place!

How's that little one, Brian? And how 'bout some pictures? (Like him in your truck?) =^)
