Dead 292 Of COURSE not Zig ! . You know I run these old rigs far too hard , far and wide to be building a time bomb . 292's are long stroke engines so overspeeding them results in sudden death sooner than later . I like to build high flow , low compression engine that'll take a beating and keep running for decades ~ laying down rubber is childish and a wa$te of time and $$.... Rant over , try to keep up with my old truck .
Those walls really look nasty even after the honing, little bit of work and it could be saved. There was a time when I put rings and inserts back into a 283 which had some walls similar to that and ran it for about a year till I got the money together to buy a 350 engine to put into my 65 C20. And with the help of my now X wife 2's hubby at the time he was soon to be her X #1, we did all that on a Saturday and an early Sunday by noon we had the 65 running and ready for the CHP inspection Monday morning. Engine Works These pits will never hone out and there's a fair bit of a ridge too ~ I know I can assemble it and make run well but I have an oil burner now and will be installing new pistons so off I go looking for another , better , cheaper engine . I believe this bock to be .030" over right now and these are ' thinwall ' design engines so boring past .030" is always a dicy proposition . I do ' stuff ' engines with the good stuff , most of my stock(ish) builds out run most Hot Rods , much to their concernation .
While getting stuff ready when I redo the manifolds I found a Victor/reinz manifold set I must have bought off fleabay and never checked what it is for. Turns out it is for the 292 and I'll drop it off to you as soon as i can get out there to look at that manifold you spoke of. "V/R # MS16033X for gas 4.6 ohv 292"
THANK YOU ! . That'll come in very handy indeed . Whenever you get to it , no rush Charles . I drove it to - day running errands etc. and 1/2 the time one cylinder was cutting out from oil fouling .
