Will finally be coming out of the body shop. Hopefully it will be painted monday or teusday. The fenders and hood and small parts are already painted, the firewall is getting prepped, and the interior is painted. I will be posting assembly steps right here as they happen, with photos, so all the newbies can see how it is done. Stay tuned...........
...two for the show... I bet you've got to be a proud papa! Well done! I have only one question~ what happened with the original wheels? I'm glad you put some daylight pictures in there, because I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out what color you painted it with those evening shots. Looks like a little one gives her approval. also!
Actually, they are in chronological order....the painted pic.s are when it was first purchased. The wheels are what were on it, I found some 16" stockers. It is being painted now, and re assembly will start next week. We have tracked down as much info as possible about paint....what parts are what color, etc. I will also try to post a tech article on what I have been able to find. When it is done it will go to Florida to my uncle, who owned my truck when I first met it. It will get whitewalls, A/C, and a 12 v conversion, otherwise remain very stock.
The RIGHT Way ! Yee HAW ! that's what I'm talking about ! Just remember : you cannot possibly turn it over to Uncle until it's thoroughly vetted ~ this means 10,000 FUN miles . -Nate
are all those patch panel purchased or did you make some? i am about to start doing my floor, inner cowl , and some toeboards. want to know if they are quality panels for fitment. oh yeah and your work is looking sharp!!!!!
Most all patch panels are purchased. I highly reccommend the separate floor and toe board panels. I have installed a one piece and it doesn't have the pinch weld at the joint. This seems to cause a little weakness in the panel. The inner to outer cowl c channel(in the fenderwell) is a P.I.T.A. and I haven't found one that fits quite right. I reccommend replacing the whole cowl panels instead of the patch, just drill out spot welds and instert new panel. Floor supports fit quite well, inner kick panel is a pain, but fits fairly well.
Hey Ol' Chebby Dude!!! Do you WORK??? I haven't seen anybody get so much done in so little time as you...and done WELL to boot!!! Whatever kinda coffee you drinkin'...I want some!! Andy
I am self employed as a mural artist. when I am not painting, I try to build trucks. Actually, not much has happened in 6 mo. It has been in the paint shop for a year now, they are supposed to paint the bed and cab tomorrow, Monday will start assembly if all goes well. I will be documenting the assembly and wireing for a tech article here as it happens.....same bat time, same bat channel! We ended up buying new bed sides...the old ones required too much bondo. I must highly reccommend Mar-k panels.....WOW are they worth the money. Bought from Dave's truck parts right here in NC.
Here it is emerging from the booth. We cleaned and blacked the frame, under coated under the cab, and now it is time to start assembly! I will update as the build progresses.
Oh Yeah! Let's see What word describes it best? Sweet? Beautiful? Awesome? Purty? If I had to pick one, it would have to be...ALL THE ABOVE! Way to go man!! Keep the pics coming!
