The way you and the Boop have been attacking the rebuild I expect to see it all together very soon. Can't wait!
I am glad that you finally got it painted. I am still waiting on my bed front and tail gate so yours did get painted before mine, sorta.
    Congrats!

    Additional Info and pics

He was gona let the paint go at one coat on a few items, He was tryin to cut corners. BUT,,, HIS cuz (that's me, The Boops Loving Dad, protecting her interest) was keepin an eye on him. Don't know if it really needed it, but the Boops ride ended up with 2 coats of sealer and sanded with 600 grit, 3 coats of paint and sanded with 800 grit, then 2 final coats of paint then 4 coats of clear for that 10" deep look... OH BABY, she's a beautiful thang... The Boops PROUD:D , suposed to be baked on then picked up monday...

One good thing going for us for those who have been keeping up with the on going saga, All the parts are taking up one of his 50,000 paint booths. He's got to bake it before it can be moved out. So we got him now:eek:

See a few more pics below. They are before the clear coat which went on friday (today) and I wasn't there to take pics... More pics when we bring it all home first of the week.

The Boops B-day is March 3rd. Oh how great it would be to hand her the keys to the FINISHED ride on that day. But I don't know if I can do it. I'm gonna give it a shot. If and when I do get it finished, your all invited to Gallatin TEXAS:D

    She's All Back Home!!!!

It's about time, it only took 17 weeks... The Boop is exstatic!.

We brought it all home today 02-03-2007 at 5:00 pm.

It is absolutly georgous (if it's ok for a man to use that word)

Well post some pics in the next day or two. Now it's down to getting the rest of it together. The cab is complete, doors on and complete, everything but the carpet. Thought I would wait till last to do it since i'm working in a tent in the dirt:mad:

I decided that the only way to get the cuz to work was to do more electrical and push him while I was over there. It worked!

The only regret I have about the completed parts is that I didn't replace the bed sides. They are Ok, BUT, I can see many little imperfections on those flat surfaces. I didn't think it would matter that much since it would be inside the bed, but now I know better

So a word of advise "Replace the bed sides" you can see it ALL, and a flat surface don't hide a dimple very well:rolleyes:

Anyway, it's been a few days since I posted anything because I've been going over to do electrical and getting in late and too tired to post... Sorry!

Again, we'll let you in on a few pics by Monday. Weekends are very busy with us...

    Wow!

I couldn't be happier for you and your daughter. This truck is looking great. I especially like the bed in the living room. Apparently the Boop's Mom is supportive of the project as well.

Since you have recently installed mirrors on both sides let me ask you something. In my truck I see two holes in the double wall under the dash, one round and one oblong that looks like the proper place to put the mirror. My plan was to drill a hole from the inside to make sure I get them aligned right. Is that how you accomplished yours?

Back to the truck. It has been a long road but you are in the short rows now. The long term investment though, as you know, is the close relationship with your daughter. She will cherish this forever.

    Mirror

Tailgater, I took a plain piece of 8 1/2 x 11 white paper and layed it on the drivers side WHILE IT WAS PRIMED and marked it around the crease and cowl . I then marked the two mirror holes, cut it out at the marks and took it to the passengers side, lined everything up and marked my two mirror holes. It fits just perfect if you turn the paper upside down for the other side. Hint- use a punch to make a dent, that curve will cause the bit to slide right off, remember the story on the other post:eek: . Drill you holes, mine matched up perfect with the holes inside that already exist.

Make sure it is in the right spot, or the hood or door will hit it.

Looking Great !!!!! Keep posting the photo's I can't wait to see the final one when she is standing next to the Finished Truck with a mile long smile. Great job on the paint Don't worry about the bed sides minor detail. Remember she is not going to be a trailer queen But a Nice Young Ladies daily ride. The truck needs some character anyway.

    Outstanding!

That is REALLY, one slick looking ride!!! How 'bout some engine pictures too? Before you go closing everything in, I'd like to see how that turned out as well!
I bet the bed in the living room makes tube watching real fun... I'd be looking at the bed, and not the tube!
Great job! Keep us visual learners happy with pics, lots of pics!

    Oh yeah!

Now we're getting somewhere! Glad to see you got off of your duff and got the bed out of the living room! Did you do the bed wood yourself? I know you posted that before, but my memory fails me. I can't wait to come up there in March and check it out first hand!

    Off The Duff

Yep, I finally got my lazy self up and moved the Bed out of the living room. The wife has been gone a few days helping her mother that just had surgery. When she came home she didn't even notice untill I showed her the pics.

The Boop and I did the bed wood our self. Went to a saw mill and got the ruff cut red oak, plained it, cut and finished it ourselves.

Looks pretty good for two amatures huh.

    Fittin for a beautiful lady.
