    Hello,
the end clearance at the intermediate bearing is at the crankshaft of my engine about .o16 inch. Is this too much to keep the engine working?

0.016 is over what the specs call for which is 0.003-0.009 but we used to run them if not over 0.019. At 0.020 or more the thrust surface on the crank had to be built up. A search will show a number of shops that do this. Here is a good web site for 235 engine specs: www.secondchancegarage.com/public/623cfm

    Hello Evan,
the link you've posted doesn't work. Do you have another link for a shop?

Just type www.secondchancegarage.com into the address box and then use their search. If you type in the address on the address bar instead of clicking on the blue one in the post it works for me. Good luck.
