Thanks Nate and Coilover on the Carb tuning advice for my dual carb set-up. I am completely inexperienced with dual's:eek:. I put a fenton dual intake on the 55' 235. It has dual rochester B's.

I can understand if I had a split intake dual carb how the manometer would even out the carbs. But...the fenton is a single plenum with two carbs...I can't figure out how this will work for me. i am not even sure if i can get equal readings since the carbs share the same intake passage.

I've lost many brain cells over the years (german bier?), so if its not too much to ask can you give a quick lesson. I know several of us are playing with dual carb set-ups on the forum. My motor looks absolutely like a cool 50's Hot rod:cool:.

The basic deal is this : each carby is a port to the single intake manifold and what you'd like to do is have both ports passing the same CFM's at all throttle openings .

The Unisyn measures this by measuring how much vacuum is being drawn .
The opther carby tuning tool I mentioned , is more accurate because it measures the actual airflow .

Just PLAY with it , if your hearing is good you can set them by listening to the high pitched hissing sound each carby makes when idling , balance the adjustments until both carby have the same ' hiss' ~ you might find a bit of fuel hose held one end to your ear and the other end held by the carby's intake , makes the ' hiss ' easier to hear .

When the tool is mounted on one carb it is blocked completely so you are running on a single carb and THAT is the one being tuned. Like Nate, many times I use my ears on carbs and on timing I twist the dizzy till the starter grunts and then back off a smidgen. If it doesn't ping at running temp I tighten the lock bolt and rodeo.
