Craig, You said the magic word when you said "functional", not pretty. They do give the extra bearing surface for the cab mount bolt. My made from scrap dies leave a wrinkle in one spot only but it is easily smoothed out. For our use I just trim them to size with a hand held electric shear but can make them perfectly round on the lathe. Didn't see the need since they're welded to and covered with the floor mat. Red mark is where wrinkle was and blue circle is the trim to line.
