stand in front of the truck look back by the distributor on a 235 there is a hole in the bell housing look in there and you'll see it! looks more like a big dot on the fly wheel

    Ignition Timing Marks , 235 & 261

It's a small balll bearing pressed into a hole in the flywheel .

If you look just above the starter motor you'll see a window with a pointer , the idea is : slow the idle down to below 600 RPM's and loosen the pinch clamp at the base of the dizzy a little bit , turn the dizzy untill the ball lines up exactly with the pointer ~ any backlight makes this job nigh impossible , I use a large scrap of cardboard over my back to provide sufficient shade .

There must be _NO_ vacuum signal to the dizzy when the enging is idling ! .

Near this ball bearing will be stamped in either a chevron or a triangle , this is the TDC mark and if you have an advance typ dynamic timing light , use this TDC mark to set the all in timing to 32° ~ 34° BTDC for increased power and better fuel milage too .

Dwell goes to 33° and is best set by removing the spark plugs and running the starter whilst you watch the dwell meter and adjust on the fly ~ this way you adjust for dizzy wear .

Of course you know you cannot possibly adjust the timing accurately untill the valves have been adjusted , engine hot of course .
