I saw on CNN today that London had a tornado. Or maybe Brit50 dropped a race cam in his new 235 and aired it out.;)

I hope that our English mates made out OK. Neil and Mel post a reply so we know you're alright.

I heard that on Fox, the fair and balanced news. I do hope they are OK. It looked like it was very isolated. You know we here in the south take a lot of heat because everytime a tornado hits you hear someone say, "It sounded like a train comin'" When the news person in London asked what it was like It would have done my heart good to hear someone with that proper English accent say, "It sounded like a train coming."
Last I heard there were no casualties but that was early today right after it happened. What's the latest?

I hope no one was hurt , I narrowly missed being hit by a tornado whilst moto touring once ~ scary to say the least

Wow, I'm impressed that you guys noticed this. I mean like thanks for thinking of us...

It was a small tornado in suburban north London, about a hundred homes and a few cars damaged plus six people injured - only one taken to hospital. Being north London the cars would probably all have been either tiny tiny things (make a mini seem big) or Range Rover type things, aka Chelsea tractors.

Evidently we get about 60 reported tornados a year in the UK, but they typically only last for a few minutes and cover maybe a mile. Also they're generally a south of England thing, rare in Scotland and Ireland.

I caught a train from Flgstaff to LA earlier this year (a pretty good experience as a tourist) and believe me, those mile longs rolling through Flag don't sound anything like English trains. So I guesss if it sounded like that we wouldn't think it was a train coming anyway.

I'm still waiting for my 235 with its new 261 cam back from the second tear down after the oil pump incident, so it wasn't me airing that one out.

One down, one to go. Glad to hear you made it without incident. Tornados scare the crap out of me. Here in the Texas Gulf Coast area, we get hurricanes every year and we've learned to deal with them. But tornados, on the other hand, you can't prepare for!

I've seen my fair share of the twisters and it doesn't get any easier the more you see. You're right you can't prepare, only about five minutes notice to cover your butt and run to the safest place. Good to hear you guys are okay over across the pond.

Hey guys, nice to hear you were concerned for us! (mel!!! thought i was the single solitary brit keeping the flag flying on here lol) as for me, i was 850 miles away in southern France, watching some woman with pumped up b**bs and a ridiculous watch lose obscene amounts of cash at the roulette wheel:eek: jeez! she lost more money that night than ive earned throughout my working life!!!!!

Us brits, tornados, earthquakes, floods you name it and we just take it on the chin, we are made of tough stuff us brits, stiff upper lip etc:cool:

That twister that hit north London was quite powerfull, lasted 15 mins, and they estimate it did ?1.5 million worth of improvements:D

Just got back from France(20mins ago) 847miles in 10 and half hours straight, hell of a drive, stopped only to fill up the tank and empty mine! not in the 50' i hasten to add:rolleyes:

    Time to sleep i think,

Gotta tell you, she was changing up 500 euro chips at every spin (about ?350 i think) and putting the whole lot on the table, she had prob 2 wins of a decent size and a few small ones but the trend was lose, lose, lose and this went on for nearly 3 hours:eek: i just sat there and had a few beers watching the stupidity of it all, she was having such a good time too!!!!!!
