I have a 54 3100 truck and need to tow it about 20 miles. Question is, will my 07 Tacoma 4x4 V6 and a uhaul tow dolly do the job? If not, any suggestions on towing it myself? Thanks K

Your tacoma should do the job. Make sure you are strapped good, and re-check after a couple of miles. Take it easy, and give yourself plenty of stopping room.

I used a tow bar to tow one about that far. (back roads) No problems to speak of, but do check after a few miles to make sure everything is still where you put it~

Remember to fill the rear end and tranny with gear oil so nothing burns out and breaks ! .

I often fill the tires to max pressure so it'll tow easier .

Tow lights are wise too . cheap @ Harbor Freight or just add some wires from your tow rig to the dragger and put in # 1157 12 volt taillights .

SAFETY KNOWS NO SEASON ! .

I drug my truck from central Florida to Charlotte NC behind a v6 Dakota with a heavy Uhaul trailer. I could have used more truck, but it did it no problem.

I towed mine with a Ford Ranger with the 4.0 v6 with no issues as far as the tow vehicle was concerned. Just remember to turn off your overdrive or your Tacoma might not have a tranny when you are done.

A word of advice..... If using a tow dolly make sure to use straps or something on the steering wheel to keep the wheels on the trailer from turning. I forgot that part and my 50' chevy ended up putting its passenger fender into the tow dolly wheel on a corner and then on other corners it threw a strap and because the steering could turn it almost turned its front wheel right off the trailer. USE SAFEETY CHAINS!

And that's my story from a 175 mile pull.
