I Have 87 Suburban 2wd, 454 With Turbo 400. Will A 700r4 Bolt Into Its Place Or Any Modifications Need To Be Made. It Has The Efi Motor

If I remember right I think the 400 and the 700R4 are all most same lenth but the mount are in different places trans member has to move.
or you could get a I think it's a 375 or something like that basicilly it's a 400 with OD . I beleve 1990 to 1997 or 1998 from the Suburban 1 tons up with OD.

If you are going to install a 700R4 make sure it is built for that much HP. You will need to run a TV cable, a lock-up relay, shifter (old one may still work but no 1st), and crossmember.
The drive-shaft might need to be shortened and rebalanced. The yoke is probably still the same but check before shortening/balancing. www.boetieoverdrives.com has a lot of good info.

thanks

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like theres a lot of info there and bowtieoverdrive. A lot more in depth than I thought

The 700r4 that was originally in my truck had a slip yoke, the th400 I put in with my diesel had a 1350 fixed yoke. If you can find a junked Suburban with a 700r4 you can probably just take the front piece of the drive shaft, then get new u-joints and a center bearing, and check the balance.
