I purchased an aftermarket tubular trans crossmember and was wondering if anyone using this type had any install pics, there were no instructions. My main concern is if there is any difference in mounting the ends on the inside of the frame rail or outside? Seems like the only way to mount on the inside would require cutting the ends of the center tube about an inch. Thanks
tranny mount Bob, I used the hosts tubular tranny mount and also their tubular engine mount. The center piece of the tranny mount had to be shortened to mount it on the inside of the frame. I used a 350 engine and a 350 turbo. You will have to decide on the height and left or right position for the tranny. I remember the actual rubber tranny mount had a corner that needed to be ground off so it would fit properly. Sorry, I do not have any pictures to send you. Good luck to you Gerald in Florida
Gerald, I agree with the corner that wouldnt fit right. I will be correcting that this weekend. I thought that was a bit odd though...
cross member I used the tube cross member, on my 57 and had to take about an inch and a half off each side. it fits just inside the frame rails and hangs down below, so only the tab of he end peaces sit inside the frame. it worked pretty nice, i had to extend the mounting plate in the center for transmission mount, because my brake booster wouldn't allow me to mount the cross member that far forward.
