Hello All, I have a transmission question. My 1959 Apache 235 3 speed is in need of a transmission. I would like to know what automatic, (yes, automatic) will bolt up to my 235 stock truck. I have a rebuild 727 Chrysler automatic from a Jeep Wagoneer? Would this work? Or what salvage auto should I be looking for? Thanks for the response in advance. :D

The only transmission I can think of is a old cast iron powerglide that came in the cars. If anybody else knows of any let us know.

Thanks for the replay, I figured that the older transmission (power glides) would work but they are getting harder to locate, and when you do the cost seams like their gold plated or something. But I did come across an article in Classic Trucks and a web page of Stoveboltengineco.com where an adapter kit number 56-3000 will let Chevy six bangers adapter would allow the application of a late model automatic. :)

I have an aluminum Power Glide and torque converter that I would let go cheap to someone that is going to use it. It came off of a 327 and was running very well. If you are interested.

Yes , very much so interested in the auntomatinc transmission. I belive this should bolt right up to my 235, which presently has a three speed. :)
