I'm trying to figure out what kind of transmission I have, I want to replace it wiht something that will bolt right up. The numbers on my 66 Fleetside Tranny are
    GM143592645
    B17
Does this tell me what kind it is?

If this is the original transmission there is not a direct swap. The origanal one is different than any of the newer type with synchronizers which are longer and the tail shaft is splinded different. Sorry man but what ever you do you are going to have to change things around even the location of the Parking brake cross member.

There should be a tranny that is direct bolt-in.Maybe one of the later Muncies or Saginaws?

    Hey

I went to a transmission shop and the owner said I have a fully sychronized 3 speed and that any other fully sychronized chevy 3 speed will bolt right up. If that is the case, is there any wat to tell if a junked tranny is in good shape?

    thanks
