truck fluttering 64 c10

    hey fellas and gals.im new to the site but i've seen theres alot of very knowledgeable people.ok enough smoke blowing lol.my question is my truck seems to flutter my timing is right i have a good vaccum dang its just a single barrel rochester. i''ve taken it apart cleaned it.i dont know whatelse to do.it almost reminds me when i had to replace my intake then my head which is less then a year old.helpp any suggestions comments answers.thanks

    Have you checked your centrifical advance in your distributor, check your vaccum advance as well, it sounds like either broken or missing springs on the centrifical advance.

    Fluttering Engine

    @ idle I assume ? .

    When I were years younger , a '63 Chevy II Nova Super Sprot I had , did this and it drove me crazy .

    My best bud called it "The Flutter Mobile " .

    As mentioned , you need to stop and do a Major Tune Up beginning with the dwell to 33 degrees set dynamically , then the timing to 10 degrees BTDC , you can set it to this mark static easily if the spark plugs are out .

    Gap the plugs to .035" or wider , fire it up and connect the vacumm gauge and see what the gauge does as it idles....

    Failure to take the time and do each step exactly , even if you've done it before ,means you'll wind up chasing your tail eternally .
