my 86 silverado stepside has been sitting for about a year. i finally found a replacement bed and im in the process of restoring it. the other day i tried to get it started but it was a no go. since im no mechanic i was wondering if there is anything i can do to get it started. it turns over and the starter goes for about 7 seconds before it dies down and it loses its juice. anybody have any tricks i can use just to get it going so i can send it out to be sandblasted and all? is it the starter, or the battery or something else?
I would pull the plugs out and check them. Make sure to get any rust off that may be on them, or just buy new ones. There may also be water in the gas tank and lines. The way to check is take a very small amount of gas, barely an ounce, and pour it into your throttle body/carb. If the motor tries to start but wont run, then that'ts your problem. Robert
