Ok all of you classic rock fans, time for you to put your music where your muffler is. Or at least for me to do so
In Billy Joel's famous song "I'm moving out" there is a sound clip of a car taking off and the exhaust is just beautiful. It has a perfect rumble-in-the-belly type of deep kinda bubbly sound. I want to have a similar exhaust sound on my truck, but I dont know enough about manipulating exhaust to get the right effect.
Does anyone know what engine was used in this clip and what type of exhaust that would be? I am hoping some of you older guys might have heard a real world example of this.
To me it sounds like a small block Chevy with glass packs and a relatively small exhaust (like a 1.75" or 2"), but it sounds much too muffled to be just glass packs. I figure the length of the exhaust will make a big difference on the sound too.
Any ideas? If anyone needs another listen to the song, I am going to rip part of it off CD and put it up for download (that is legal cuz it's not the whole song).
