I have a 1977 K5 blazer and I want to put a 700-R4 trans in it. My main concern is wiring it. Will I need to buy a wiring harness? I already have a donor truck ('87 K5)

If you are installing a locking type 700R4 you will need to wire it up. Don't worry though it is super easy. www.boetieoverdrives.com sells a lock up wiring kit that makes it a snap.

All stock factory 700r4s are locking torque converters. Companies sell kits to convertit to a non lockup but I would not recomment it for a street driven outfit.
You don't need to buy an expensive kit to wire up the lockup. Here's a link
