Ok so i have a 1956 chevy 3100 pickup, I bought the tubular transmission and engine crossmembers from chevy duty and im ready to bolt them to the frame. I was wondering about how far back from the front of the frame rail you guys mounted your engine crossmember? I know that the transmission crossmember is dependent on the engine crossmember. Also how high in the frame rails did you mount the crossmember bevause it seems like my engine is sitting very low. Anyhelp would be awesome, thanks Garett
sitting mightly low leaves room for your roots blower. Seriously-take a look at a stock set-up and measure it-it sits pretty low also.
Haha i only with i had a roots style supercharger, But i do have a well built 350 capable of pushing over 400 hp that should make my little 3100 56chevy boogie. My truckcame stock with the 235ci straight 6 and this engine had the forward engine mounts and thebell housing mounts so it sat up much higher in the frame. I have also kept my aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold off in the mock up process so as to not damage them so this could be some of the problem appearing to be two low. it just doesnt even look like a fan would clear the original engine crossmember. I am more concerend with how far back in the frame you guys have mounted your engine, so i have some sort of idea what to go off of.... thanks garett
