Valve Gapping

    Any of you out there ever used a P&G Valve Gapper to adjust their valves ??

    I found one in the basement in a wooden case and was just curious if its a good way to adjust them ??

    Is this like the Gunnison click typ valve gapper ? .

    I once chased an old GM dealer Chevy valve gapper , I wanted it bad but I couldn't be OnLine during the auction so it spiraled up and out of my price range dammit :(

    If you end up not liking it I'll buy it from you. Mine broke the needle pointer shaft years ago and after using it for so long, feeler gauges suck. The P&G gives a reading that is dead accurate no matter how big an eyebrow is worn in the rocker arm from the top of the valve stem or how bad the rocker arms and shaft are worn. Even measures the thickness of the oil film layer. Also miss my P&G Combustion Gas Detector. It fit in place of the radiator cap and had a cylinder with green fluid in it. If it turned yellow there was a crack or bad gasket seal. You could isolate which cylinder by pulling plug wires and when the fluid stayed green, you'd found it. Especially handy on 235's since the crack is usually in the vertical wall of the combustion chamber and sometimes isn't as distinct with the magnaflux powder as ones on the face. When you knew which one was leaking you could give it close inspection to start with. I can't give you a step by step set up since it's been so long but I know it would come back to me with a little tinkering. Hot Rod magazine would have an archive article on it if their archives go back to the late 60's or early 70's, that's when I bought mine after reading about it's features. It is good for private use or on a performance engine but way to slow of set up time for repair shop use.

    Looks Good !

    O.K. , that looks interesting , a dail indicator is _very_ accurate .

    The click typ I was referring to , is a dealer flat rate .
