A long time customer and friend passed suddenly which is hard but expected more and more as I enter my seventh decade. This event seems to bring out the best and worst in people. His only child, a daughter, is not a car person and before anyone had a chance to advise her the vultures swept in and snapped up all (5) of his chrysler muscle cars, a 57 pontiac safari (nomad), 69 427 biscayne, 62 chevyII drag car, a Yenko chevelle, and others. I just can't lie to a person I'm buying from if they ask what something is worth, then if they sell for less I really like getting a good deal. Is this comepletely old fashioned and out of date? Fortunately his 49, 56, and 72 chev pickup are still there and when available I'll let the forum members know. When I learned what was happening I made an appraisal list up for her that is fair and grounded the buzzards.
First off, Evan, sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Second of all, I feel for his daughter, who obviously got duped out of some serious dollars because she either wanted to get rid of the memories of her father or had no other choice. As far as your statement about being honest or old-fashioned being out of date, then i'll join you and we can "spit" on the rest of them! Not that you needed it, but you've gone way up on my list of good ol' boys! Starting the 7th decade? I guess i'd better start calling you sir! I've just added you to my list of Texas buddies that I need to call on in person!
Amen I AMEN that old fashioned ideal. What happened to the day in which people cared for people more than things? Treating people honestly is one of my BIG pet peeves. I am also sorry to hear that you lost a good friend but glad to hear that friendship means more to you than money. Never met ya in person, but ya just jumped to the top of my book also. TB'sD
I'm sorry to hear of another's passing . Too many gone , not enough left . The flip side of the vultures rushing in to make a killer score , is the window/child etc. who simply calls the junkamn and says " clear all this trash out ! " . Life is like this , in 100 years , no one will care about us or our trucks... Hopefully I'll be off elsewhere riding in my rattly old '49 with Bumper T. Wienerdog on the saet next to me or in my lap again , dammit FWIW : I've told my son he can simply push all the antiques and vehicles to the curb then burn the house , after I've gone , who the hell knows what I do about it all ? . I don't think he cares for old stuff anyways .
