had water in the oil. figured out what it was and fixed it. Now I need to know if besides draining the watery oil, is there anything I can put in the engine to flush all the bad oil out? Someone told me to run kerosene through the engine, but that seems like it would just make things worse. Is there some kind of fluid (flush) I can run through the engine? Thanks!!!!;)

Well you can run automatic tanny fluid thew the engine. Put it in the gas tank. and when i got a 63 chevy with a 283 in it i put a oil kerosine mix in it and ran it for a while then changed it again to what i would normaly use.

    Will,

Years ago I remember a mechanic who used to buy and sell 55-57 Chevys. Back then, non-detergent oil was used commonly and most engines had a buildup of sludge because of this. Every car he bought, the first thing he did was flush the engine. He used a mixture of 50% kerosene and 50% 10 weight oil and a new filter. He idled engine about 10 minutes with this mixture and then drained it and replaced the filter. Apparently, it did a good job of cleaning the engine.
