I've really been thinking about installing bed roll lights on my truck but didn't want to fork over $110 for them. I came across these. They are rear mounted lights I removed from a discarded power mobility scooter at work. I had been looking at them for awhile thinking that they might work and finally measured them today and found that they were dead on. This is what they look like during a trial fitting. There's a mounting tab that with a little modification will fit securely in the bed roll but I'll probablly drill a small hole underneath for added security. The best part is that they were free!! :D I'll work on it this weekend and let you know how it turns out.

    Too COOL!

That's awesome, Robert! How are you going to rout the wire? Will you have it work with park lights, or can you rig it to work as an additional turn signal light? That really is a _perfect_ look!

I haven't decided if I'll use them as a brake, tail or turn yet, but more than likely they'll be brakes.

    Pretty Slick !

Personally I'd want them pushed at least 1" inside the bedroll so they'd not be visable until they illuminated .

The screw you're planning to add , will improve grounding , don't forget to add a ground strap to the bed .

    Are these LED's ? .

BTW : grampa says the powerchair was NOT ' discarded ' ! he was in the porta-pottie you found it next to........

    Got 'em mounted

No, they aren't LEDs. I looked for one to replace the stock bulbs but couldn't find any to fit. I finally got around to mounting them today. I ended up using them as brake lights.

    Looking Good!

Way to go, Robert! That should get the person behind you to notice you are stopping. Especially with that gas tank back there.
    What now? Paint?
    Keep up the great work!

Well I've got good news and bad news. I contacted the manufacturerand got a price. The good thing is that these things are really cheap, $17 for the lenses, $5 for the harness. BUT... that's the VA price which includes a discount. There's no way for me to order them through work & pay for them myself. The only way for the public to get them is to go through a dealer and I'm sure the price would be much higher. I'll call a few dealers to see what they sell for if anyone's interested.
