What does 235 Thriftmaster designation mean?

    While looking up the engine ID info, I noticed that there are 235's and 235 Thriftmaster's. Any difference?

    I'm pretty sure Thriftmaster refers to trucks,so the 235 only designation would refer to a car engine. Hope this helps !

    Car 235s had the oil fill cap in the center of the valve cover, trucks had it in the front.

    OK, My '55 engine #'s indicate a Thriftmaster, from the documentation. Good, It's a truck engine. Thanks for the Xplanation. :cool:

    Chevy engines have been placed in different brand Vehicles for some time, even hot rodders place Chevy engines in Fords, so why not a gmc.
