    Gasket question ?

235 CI engine inlet manifold;Between the insulator and bottomline of the Carter YF carburator there has to be placed a gasket. But i have to different types, one with 2 tilted cuts and the other one with 4 tilted cuts and a litle suppurt egde thats fits into the insulator? Wich one should i use? Both are made of some cardboard material i `d think ?
What is the funktion of these cuts ?

    Carby Base Gaskets

The cuts are to provide vaccum source for the power valve in the Rocheter series 'B' carbys and there's four so the average dufus can install it wrong and the engine will still run correctly .

IIRC , the Carter YF's use a metering rod instead of a power valve so it *might* not be important .

    *MIGHT* .

I'd just look at the base of the carby and if there's a vacuum passage there , use a gasket with a corresponding hole...
