I am getting ready to put a 10 spline input shaft in my T5 My present transmission is a SM 420 which is giving me trouble The 84 Jeep input shaft is 10 spline but it looks to be about 1/2 inch to long on the pilot area I have not pulled the sm 420 yet so I cannot measure it If any of you have that measurement it would be greatly aspirated. Thanks for any help.

Just order the spacer from www.hotrodworks.com. Get the adapter clutch from Speedway, 10" with 14 spline for flathead to t5 adapter. Use stock pressure plate and throwout bearing. Very easy to install.

Man, that is A LOT easier than what we have done for years. Rather than pull out the input shaft I made a cradle to fit on the bed of the big old Monarch lathe that the T5 would bolt up to. Chucked up the shaft by the very end, cut the splines back (about 5/8 IIRC) and then cut the pilot to length. All this when a 160 bucks gets a bolt on deal.
