I just aquired a '61. It's hotrod truck, so there's not much stock about it. The wipers don't work, but everything seems to be there. It has an aftermarket two speed switch. What does this wiper motor look like it's from? Is it a stock motor? There looks like 4 spade terminals on the motor, but only 3 are hooked up. Any help would be appreciated and I will try to answer any questions.
That is the stock motor from the '61. Only three wires are supposed to be hooked up in order for the motor to run two speeds. One the center one) is a hot terminal when the ignition is on and the other two are the two speed connections from the switch. The 4th terminal on my '61 is also un-used. I think it may be for a washer pump, which I don't have.
The '61 suppliment manual has excellent wiring diagrams and a troublshooting section for the wiper motor. You can pick the manual up pretty cheap from any of the normal vendors or on EBay. If that's too much of a hassle, I could probably scan the pages from mine. It'd be a few days though... fishing this weekend
Who hoo! Thanks for the heads up. They had it wired wrong. It doesn't work on low and it won't shut off, but at least they work. I hooked up and extra switch to kill the power when I don't want them on.
