what was the 4 speed trans for 1962 i know they used muncie in 1963 but was it used in 1962 too

hope info this helps...

1960 /61 shop manual supplement to the 1960 manual lists the 4 speed transmission as a "4-speed chevrolet code C4". It does however, list the addition of an auxillary 4 speed tranny made by SPICER as the only change to the manual transmission lineup from 1960 This auxillary was used on the model M80 tandem axle trucks. both the 61 / 62 suppliment and the 60 manual have the 4 speed designated as code C4, but not the supplier of the C4. Spicer was the supplier of two of the four 5 speed tranny's listed in 1960 shop manual. Clark was the other. No mention of Muncie.

Im not sure that this is right, but I have a 62 and am pretty sure that it has a Saganah tranny in it. Don't know if that is how to spell it, but its a 4 on the floor with a granny, with reverse towards the driver. Hope that helps a little.
