Wheels wanted & Rust Protectoin and

First off wanted to say Hi to all. I'm new here and the new owner of a 86 C-10 I just bought.

I'm looking for some original Rally style wheels with the little square holes. 15x8. If anyone knows where I can buy some or has some for sale I would appreciate it.

Also, I live in Iowa and we get lots of rust up here. Any thoughts on rust-proofing as I just got the truck repainted? Would a phone call to Ziebart be a wise choice?

And lastly, I'm planning on attaching a aluminum tailgate band to the tailgate. How are these attached? Weld, screws, clips, tape?

Congrats on your new purchase.
Have you tried E-bay for those wheels? Those shouldn't be too hard to locate. Most people ditch them for some aftermarket rims, like I did.

As far as rust protection, Ziebart would be a good choice if you don't want to get nasty, and have the money. But if your a "do-it-yourselfer," try eastwoodco.com. They have everything you will need, and then some, to combat rust on your truck.

Originally equipped tailgate bands are srewed on from the backside of the tailgate.

Marky, appreciate the info. I checked out eastwood and found a nice kit for $130. Any idea on how much prep work is required before I actually apply the undercoating? Do I need to take a wire brush to the whole underside or spray it first with some kind of prep coat? Sorry for all the questions... I'm new to this and just want to do things right the first, and hopefully last, time.

Well, I haven't actually applied that product yet (I will in the near future), so I hate to tell you an improper way to apply it. Just guessing, I would think dome degreasing and a pressure washer would be needed to remove built up fluid leaks that have made their way underneath the body. The wire brush would only be needed for factory undercoating which may have unbonded for whatever reason.

You can contact eastwood directly from the customer service link on their website. They are a friendly company and should be able to give you the information you need. The kit may even come with detailed instructions, but I would ask to be sure.
