won't start

Hi all,
my truck was running extremely rich the other day so I began to look into giving it a tune-up. The first thing I did was adjust the carburetor a little, but this did not releieve the black smoke expelled from the exhaust. I opened the distributor up and found the rotor very rusty. I cleaned that and the points, put it back together, and it has not been able to start since. (I replaced the coiljust to se and that made no change in the situation) Any ideas?

It sounds as if the plugs are fouled.Change them and try it again.Also check your float level in the carb.It can be a source of it running excessively rich.You may have to rebuild the carb if the float level isn't off.Let us know what happens.

Make sure that when you replaced the points that any wire inside the distributor is not inadvertently grounded. That will surely kill any juice going to the points.
